Firat Akkan, Vice President


Mr. Akkan is a Vice President at Global Capital Finance and is primarily responsible for the origination, syndication, and execution of renewable energy and infrastructure transactions in Europe, Turkey, and MENA.

Prior to joining Global Capital Finance in 2018, Mr. Akkan was an Associate Attorney at Hergüner Bilgen Özeke Attorney Partnership, a top tier independent business law firm in Turkey. Significant transactions during his four years at the firm included a USD 15bn gas pipeline project between Russia and Turkey, the financing of a EUR 5.5bn renewable energy project of a pioneer Turkish energy company, and the management of legal processes for a major Swiss drug maker’s Turkish subsidiary to create a joint consumer healthcare unit. Previous internships have included The Abraaj Group, where Mr. Akkan contributed to financial models, investment committee memoranda, and due diligence work streams as a Private Equity Summer Associate, as well as Earlybird Venture Capital, where as a Summer Associate, Mr. Akkan examined VC-backed companies in Poland, Ukraine and Turkey. Mr. Akkan was a Pre-MBA Intern to Senior Management at The Carlsberg Group, where he crafted a marketing action plan including brand slogans and enhancement of brand assets to increase sales.

Mr. Akkan received a Master of Business Administration from Yale School of Management, graduated from Galatasaray University in Istanbul with a Bachelor of Laws, and holds a Master of Science in Financial Economics from Istanbul Bilgi University. He is fluent in Turkish, French, and English.
